Q: Is Sigma Alpha Omega considered a greek sorority?

A: No. Sigma Alpha Omega is a non-profit organization that is not affiliated with Greek or Panhellenic sororities. For more information, please visit our national website.

Q: When is recruitment?

A: This semester will be a bit different since our low active membership has classified us as a revival chapter. We will have set meetings throughout the month of August that you can find the specific dates of on our Events page. These meetings will be our 'recruitment' as we are looking for ladies to take a plunge into Sisterhood through Christ!

Q: Do I have to have a specific denomination to join?

A: No. SAO is an interdenominational organization, we only ask that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.

Q: Is SAO a replacement for a church?

A: We are a Christian organization but do not replace a church. We do have many Christian events and we help each other to grow in our faith continuously.

 

Q: What Christian events do we do?

A: We have weekly group bible studies, worship nights, devotionals at the beginning of every chapter, and a weekend retreat once a semester. 

 

Q: Can you be in a Panhellenic sorority and Sigma Alpha Omega?

A: No. It is not allowed to be a part of another social sorority or fraternity. You can however be in a professional fraternity or sorority and/or any other organization. A lot of our sisters are in multiple groups on campus.

Q: What is the time commitment?

A: The time commitment is really what you make of it. You can be as involved as you want to be, although chapter is mandatory as well as some events and two bible studies a month.

​

Q: What are the chapter dues?

A: Chapter Dues are $200 a semester. Our dues are almost $600 cheaper per semester than the average Panhellenic or Greek sorority. If money problems are what is going to stop you from joining SAO, please contact us and we will be happy to try and work something out with you.
